Ksero Inc. Introduces Board Game To Teach Fundamentals Of DNA And Genetics
kSERO Corporation Inc., a leading developer of
children’s products that increase reasoning and logic skills, introduced METANON:
The Biocode Adventure at the American International Toy Fair today. METANON:
The Biocode Adventure, designed for ages 5-and-up, is a space-adventure board
game that teaches players the fundamentals of DNA and genetics in a simple and
entertaining way.
Metanon teaches kids about DNA in much the same way that Monopoly taught
us about the basics of economics, said Susan Hardwicke, Ph.D., kSERO founder.
Metanon addresses the need for children to have higher level abilities for
learning math, science and language by teaching them while they play.
The Biocode Adventure allows 2-6 players to compete as one of six
characters racing to repair their spaceships and blast off from the planet Metanon.
To complete their mission and return home, players must collect Biocodes, pieces
that represent DNA molecules, and assemble them in various patterns of shapes
and colors, in the same way DNA appears in genetic code.
kSERO utilizes the latest in child and adolescent learning research to make
products that foster early development of skills while still being entertaining for
children of all ages to play.
In designing METANON: The Biocode Adventure,
kSERO enlisted the help of 15 year-old Laura Warmke to help create a game and
characters that would appeal to young players. Warmke, already an accomplished
painter and high school student, developed some of the key artwork for the game.
Laura’s work was the inspiration for the Metanon board game, Hardwicke said.
She designed a colorful landscape/environment that appeals to players of all ages.
