YAHOO! GAMES’ LADDERS KEEPS PLAYERS ON TOP OF THEIR GAMES
Yahoo! users can now rise to the occasion in Yahoo! Games with Ladders, an automated system that allows players to instantly and easily determine where their score ranks compared to other users of that same game. Featured on 12 classic card, board and tile games, including checkers, chess and hearts, Ladders is based on the principle of rungs, where players are moved up and down the rungs of the online scoring ladder depending on whether they win or lose a game. To participate in Ladders, the only thing Yahoo! Games players have to do is playthey are automatically ranked and can continue to scale the Ladder as they win more games.
Players can check their status at any time by returning to the specific game and game room where they initially entered the Ladder ranking. Ladders' also allows users to view other players' detailed results such as rating, games completed, top finishes and current win streaks.
Ladders fosters a competitive spirit within the growing Yahoo! Games' community, said Michael Latham, director of production, Entertainment & Media, Yahoo! Inc. With as many as 25,000 simultaneous users playing at peak times, Yahoo! Games has become a great source of online entertainment, as well as an opportunity for players to challenge one another in classic games they grew up with as kids. The easy and automated Ladders system is a great enhancement to the Yahoo! Games user experience compared to the manual system previously used by players.
